Four a PainAffordable and full of character, the Four a Pain provides a perfect base from which to explore the Midi-Pyrenees whilst also offering a peaceful and comfortable sanctuary where you can take time out to recharge your batteries.
Dating back to the nineteenth century, the detached barn that now forms the Four a Pain was originally the communal bread oven for the hamlet of Malbousquet. The open stone-built oven still exists along one wall, creating an interesting focal point and affording a glimpse of times gone by. Reclaimed materials have been used to construct many of the room’s furnishings, further enhancing the Four a Pain’s quirky and rustic character. Throughout the day relaxation can be found under the olive tree on the Four a Pain’s private terrace or inside where a day-bed and armchair provide respite from the heat of the day. The combination of fresh country air and a comfortable double bed guarantees a restful night’s sleep ensuring that you are fully-refreshed in time for the following day’s adventures. The gite’s day bed can be converted into a single bed or into twin mattresses, so if you are travelling as a group of 3 or 4 the Four a Pain will be able to accommodate you under one roof. Less than 5 metres from your front door is the old goat house that now houses the toilets and showers; a toilet and shower cubicle are reserved for the sole use of the Four a Pain guests. |
Meals & Catering
A delicious breakfast of local, seasonal produce will be delivered to your door and can be enjoyed in your room or on your private terrace. Although we don’t cater for lunches or dinners we have provided a selection of equipment (kettle, toaster, chopping board) along with utensils, cutlery, crockery and glassware, should you want to prepare your own picnic style meals. Free-range eggs and fresh produce from our permaculture garden are available for purchase.
A well-stocked grocery store, Prim Frais, is less than 5 minutes’ drive away in Les Cabannes. Whilst open-air markets can be found in Les Cabannes on Wednesday mornings and in Cordes on Saturday mornings. The Cordes market is a must visit with a wide variety of stalls and a particularly fine organic vegetable stall.
